Scooter rider dies after Henry Hudson Parkway crash
A 48-year-old scooter driver was killed and a motorcycle rider was injured on the Henry Hudson Parkway on Aug. 6, 2022, after police said she lost control, hit a divider and was thrown into the rider's path.

At about 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2022, a 48-year-old woman driving a gas-powered scooter north on the Henry Hudson Parkway near W. 104th St. lost control, police told the Daily News. Police said she hit the center divider and was thrown into the path of a 25-year-old man riding a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle in a downtown lane. The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, where she died; the motorcycle rider was taken there in stable condition. The city crash record lists one motorist killed, one motorist injured and unsafe speed as a contributing factor.

The official record lists a motorscooter traveling north and a 2020 motorcycle traveling south, both going straight ahead before the crash. The Daily News identified the motorcycle as a Kawasaki and described the scooter as gas-powered.

The city crash record lists unsafe speed as a contributing factor, and the motorscooter entry also lists illegal drugs as a contributing factor. The Daily News reported that police said the woman was not wearing a helmet when she crashed.
