The city record identifies the person killed as a 31-year-old female pedestrian. Gothamist reported that she was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival just after 3 a.m.
Police also said four men were injured in the related melee and made their own way to hospitals with slash or stab wounds. The Daily News and Gothamist reported that two of the men also appeared to have been hit during the episode.
Press reports and the city record describe the vehicles differently.
Gothamist reported that police described the driver as using a white sedan, while the Daily News, citing police, described it as a white Nissan sedan.
The city crash record, by contrast, listed two parked SUVs with damage: a 2018 Toyota SUV and a 2008 Ford SUV. The public materials therefore leave a conflict between the press description of the fleeing driver's sedan and the city vehicle entries.
Police were still searching that day.
Gothamist reported on Sept. 24, 2022, that police were still searching for the driver and that no arrests had been made. Gothamist also reported that police had not linked the driver to the slashings.
