Darryl Younger was on his way to work
Younger was 58 and lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. amNY reported, citing the Daily News, that he worked for the Department of Education as a school lunch loader and handler, was active in his union, and was blocks from his Long Island City workplace on the way to an early morning shift.
Police found him gravely injured
Officers found Younger unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway with severe head and body trauma, police told amNY. Medics took him to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. At publication, police said the driver had not been identified or caught.
