The Daily News identified the woman killed as Joyce Greenberg, 68, and reported that she lived at Joseph Belsky House, an independent living facility on Lawrence Avenue about two blocks from the crash site. Workers there described her as solitary and said she rarely joined group activities.

Chesed Shel Emes, a charity organization that provides free Jewish burials, stepped in to arrange Greenberg’s burial. Rabbi Solomon Feldman of the group told the Daily News, “To bury someone who is a loner is one of the most important commandments that we have.”

The driver remained at the scene

The official record identifies the involved vehicle as a 2016 Lexus SUV traveling south, with one occupant. The Daily News reported that the 73-year-old driver remained at the scene after the crash.
