Lori Kleinman was remembered as a volunteer and community presence

Felsher described Kleinman as the love of her life and a gentle force of nature. The Daily News reported that Kleinman had volunteered as treasurer of Jefferson Market Garden for a decade and also served as treasurer of her co-op board.

Felsher said Kleinman loved cooking for others, playing video games and taking pride in her extended family. The Daily News reported that she was born in Brooklyn and had retired in 2010 after work in paper manufacturing for publishing houses and nonprofit groups.

Sources describe the driver’s vehicle differently

The official crash record lists the involved vehicle as a sedan with a 2023 Chevrolet car or SUV make entry. The Daily News, citing police, described the driver’s vehicle as a 2023 Chevy Suburban. The official vehicle record says the driver was making a left turn and that the center front end was the point of impact.

Her wife called for safety changes at the intersection

Felsher told the Daily News that FDNY members from a nearby station wrapped Kleinman’s head with gauze before EMS arrived, and that she rode with Kleinman to Bellevue Hospital. Felsher said she planned to ask Manhattan Community Board 2 to consider safety improvements at the intersection and also wanted the corner named after Kleinman.
