Two Hit-and-Run Drivers Reported in Brooklyn Pedestrian Death
A driver in a 2021 Honda SUV fatally hit 46-year-old Mohammed Hossain near Fort Hamilton Parkway and 37th Street in Brooklyn, and police told reporters a second southbound driver may also have hit him before both drivers fled.

Police described two drivers leaving the scene
The official record places the fatal crash at 10:37 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2023, at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 37th Street in Brooklyn, with one pedestrian killed and no other injuries recorded.
Police told the Daily News that a driver in a 2021 Honda CR-V hit Mohammed Hossain as he crossed near 37th Street and kept going. The Daily News said a second southbound motorist may also have hit him after he fell, while AMNY reported that a second driver did hit him; both accounts said the drivers left the scene.
Mohammed Hossain died close to home
Hossain was 46 and lived in Borough Park, according to police accounts cited by AMNY. The Daily News reported that he was about half a mile from home when he was hit.
Police told the Daily News that Hossain suffered a massive head injury and died at the scene. AMNY reported that EMS found him with severe traumatic injuries and pronounced him dead there.
The official record lists two southbound SUVs
The city record lists a 2021 Honda SUV and a 2015 Lincoln SUV, both traveling south and going straight ahead, with one occupant and a licensed New York driver recorded in each.
The Daily News identified the first SUV as a Honda CR-V. AMNY reported at publication that police did not know the second driver's vehicle, a point that differs from the later official vehicle record.
Safety advocates singled out the Borough Park intersection
The crash happened at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 37th Street in Borough Park. Transportation Alternatives told AMNY that the intersection where Hossain was killed was in desperate need of safety upgrades and lacked daylighting at any corner to improve visibility.
No arrests were reported in the early accounts
AMNY reported that both drivers had not been caught at publication. The Daily News reported that the Honda driver kept going and that the second motorist also did not stop.
