The woman died at the scene

Gothamist reported that officers found the 72-year-old woman unresponsive beneath a parked car and that she had trauma to her head and body. Both reviewed articles said medics or police pronounced her dead at the scene.

A witness quoted by the Daily News said the woman “was just peacefully crossing the street” and described her belongings scattered after the crash.

The official person record says the pedestrian was crossing with no signal or crosswalk and was not at an intersection. It also coded pedestrian error or confusion as a contributing factor. The reviewed news accounts focused on the driver leaving the scene after impact.

Police were still looking for the driver

Gothamist reported that no arrests had been made and that the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating. The Daily News reported the same night that police were still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
