Bronx crash kills driver and passenger on Jerome Avenue
Police said John Delorbe sped north through a red light at Jerome Avenue and East Fordham Road before a crash that official records say killed him and passenger Angel Tussan and injured three others.

Police said 23-year-old John Delorbe was driving a BMW SUV north on Jerome Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. on April 13, 2024, with 21-year-old Angel Tussan as his passenger. At East Fordham Road, police said Delorbe sped through a red light and collided with a Nissan SUV driven by 36-year-old Jamie Winston, who had two passengers. Delorbe and Tussan were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead. Winston and her passengers were also taken to St. Barnabas in stable condition, and police later arrested Winston and charged her with drunk driving.
Police described a high-speed red-light collision
The crash was recorded at 4:12 a.m. on April 13, 2024, at Jerome Avenue and East Fordham Road in the Bronx. The official record lists two people killed and three motorists injured.

Two men in the BMW died
Delorbe, of Mount Hope, and Tussan, of Fordham Heights, were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The official record identifies the people killed as the 23-year-old driver and his 21-year-old front passenger.
Winston and her two passengers were also taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
Records cite red-light disregard, speed and alcohol
The city crash record lists traffic-control disregard and alcohol involvement as contributing factors. The BMW driver’s vehicle entry lists traffic-control disregard and unsafe speed, while the Nissan driver’s vehicle entry lists alcohol involvement.
Police later arrested Winston and charged her with drunk driving, according to amNewYork.
The crash added to a deadly year on New York streets
amNewYork reported that traffic collisions had killed 62 New Yorkers in 2024 as of the week before publication, six more than at the same point in 2023.
