The Daily News, citing police, reported that the 57-year-old rider was on an e-bike heading east on East 149th Street near Brook Avenue and was attempting to pass the bus on the left when the MTA driver turned left onto Brook Avenue. Police said the rider died at the scene.

The city crash record listed “Passing or Lane Usage Improper” as a contributing factor and associated that factor with the e-bike entry. Press reports said no charges were immediately filed as police continued to investigate.
