Two Motorcycle Riders Killed in Atlantic Avenue Left-Turn Crash
A 42-year-old motorcycle driver and his 42-year-old passenger died after police said a 66-year-old SUV driver turned left at Atlantic Avenue and Elton Street in Brooklyn on Sept. 1, 2025.

Reinaldo Rodriguez, 42, was driving a motorcycle west on Atlantic Avenue with passenger Mirella Vega, 42, at about 8:11 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2025. The official record lists the motorcycle as going straight and a Mercedes-Benz SUV driver as making a left turn at Elton Street. Police told Patch that the 66-year-old SUV driver was turning onto northbound Elton Street when the collision ejected both riders. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, and Vega died after being taken to Brookdale. Police said the SUV driver remained at the scene, was hospitalized in stable condition, and no arrests had been made as the Collision Investigation Squad continued its investigation.
The riders were ejected after a left turn
The official crash record says the motorcycle driver was traveling west and going straight on Atlantic Avenue while the SUV driver was traveling north and making a left turn at Elton Street. Police told Patch that the 66-year-old driver in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz SUV was turning onto northbound Elton Street when the collision ejected both people on the 2025 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Two 42-year-old riders died
Police identified the motorcycle driver as Reinaldo Rodriguez, 42, and the passenger as Mirella Vega, 42. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, and Vega died after emergency responders took her to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.
Atlantic Avenue has a long crash record

Police said no arrests had been made
Police said the SUV driver remained at the scene and was taken to Brookdale University Hospital in stable condition. The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad was continuing to investigate the crash, and police said no arrests had been made.
