Police said he was driving a 2020 gray Honda Pilot east on South Conduit Avenue near 247th Street at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, when he failed to navigate the roadway and hit a tree. Police said officers responded to a 911 call at 247th Street and South Conduit Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 27. Investigators said a 52-year-old man was driving a 2020 gray Honda Pilot east on South Conduit Avenue when he failed to navigate the roadway and hit a tree.
The driver was identified as Shapiro Lecorps
The NYPD identified the driver as Shapiro Lecorps, a Richmond Hill native who lived on Elm Street in Malverne. QNS reported that he suffered severe trauma and was taken by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The crash happened near a precinct station house
The crash location was at 247th Street and South Conduit Avenue in Rosedale, less than a block from the 116th Precinct station house on North Conduit Avenue.
Police said the investigation continued
QNS reported that there were no arrests after the crash and that the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
